I was walking along a meandering river, a disturbance becoming a frenzy of  pink "salmon" leaping, parading on the bank in groups, ranging in size: some of them like furless mammals. Fishermen in overalls threw fodder from hay trucks. I was concerned about the imbalanced ecosystem.

..I was working as a bartender and had been asked to make a cocktail of soy sauce and vinegar in a large glass. When I added the drops of soy sauce they formed swirling dust clouds and then solidified into rocks that stuck together and formed islands with vegetation. I thought I might become famous.

...there was an anesthetized body supported by a hydraulic lift in an operating room. The skin on the legs had been peeled back neatly exposing crisscrossed muscles, rubbery and clean like those on preserved cadavers. Men in welding masks filled the spaces between the straps of muscle with caulk.

...I was visiting a patient who had to be positioned upside down on her head with her legs spread in the air for most of the day. She was suspended by wires and had a humidifier shoved into her vagina. Her quality of life disturbed me.

Old dying woman had a temperature. The doctor was at the bed next to hers reading tarot cards. She showed me how to retract a fat vein from the neck and fold it to obtain a sample, it was congealed and contained a sticky milky sediment. The old woman go up and sprinted around the house.

...I was seduced by two strapping baseball players in uniform. They brought me a stack of dirty plastic cups that were different sizes and bent out of shape. I sipped the little bit of watery coke out of it and became pregnant. I had to escape in a noisy old pinto that ploughed through the earth.

...a colony of wriggling rats in a large box, mashing some of their heads to keep them contained. I transferred them to a series of smaller boxes, the last the size of a jewelry box.  I found it the next day submerged on a rock ledge since a deep chasm had formed in the back yard and had filled with water.
